Hội An is located on the coast of the South China Sea in the South Central Coast region of Vietnam. The city possessed the largest harbour in Southeast Asia in the 1st century.
The former harbour town was an important Vietnamese trading centre in the 16th and 17th centuries, where Chinese from various provinces as well as Japanese, Dutch and Indians settled.
The town still looks very beautiful and ancient.

Huế was the national capital until 1945 and is in the middle of Vietnam.
